Do I need an appointment?
No appointment is needed for students who plan to visit the lab (in person) during the week. To visit the lab on a Saturday, students must schedule an appointment, as the building is locked on weekends and a consultant will need to meet students to let them in. (Although same-day Saturday appointments can not be booked online, they can be made by calling the SAM Lab.)
Though not necessary, students can schedule an appointment to receive statistics or research methods assistance over the phone: (602) 543-6045. An appointment may be beneficial if students wish to speak with a specific SAM Lab consultant or if the student plans to call during a busier time of day.
To receive online assistance, students must schedule an appointment.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Appointments can be scheduled through our online booking system or by calling the SAM Lab.
The allotted time for each online (or phone) appointment is 20 minutes. If students anticipate needing more than 20 minutes, they are welcome to schedule multiple back-to-back appointments. Appointments scheduled through the online booking system must be made at least 12 hours prior to the desired appointment start time. If online assistance is needed with less than 12 hours notice, students can call the SAM Lab and a consultant can book one for them.
How does an online appointment work?
The SAM Lab provides online assistance through our Adobe Connect Meeting Room. Students sign in to the online meeting room and then have the option of communicating with a SAM Lab consultant through chat, audio, or webcam. To ensure that students receive individualized assistance, all online sessions are one-on-one.
Additional Instructions for Online Assistance
Step 1. At least 5 minutes prior to the designated start time of your appointment, go to the SAM Lab Adobe Connect Online Meeting Room: https://connect.asu.edu/samlab. It will take you here:
Step 2. When you enter the SAM Lab Meeting Room for the first time, you will need to go through the “Audio Setup Wizard.” This will enable you to sync your microphone, speakers, audio, and video. (For all subsequent online appointments, your audio will already be synced.)
At any time, you can chat with the SAM Lab consultant without using your microphone. This is especially important if you can’t hear him or her, but it can also be used to ask questions.
