Standard Online Assistance

These are 45-minute online appointments during which students receive one-on-one assistance from a SAM Lab Consultant via Zoom.

Type of Help

Standard online appointments are for students in online courses or ground courses who are seeking general assistance with statistics and/or research methods concepts, SPSS, or Stata.

Appointment Details

Standard online appointments can be scheduled by clicking on the “Book Standard Online Appointment” button below. Appointments must be made at least 24 hours prior to the desired appointment start time. At the time of booking, you will need to provide the following information:

1) Course name and number
2) Instructor
3) The specific question(s) you would like to discuss

Approximately 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of your appointment, a SAM Lab consultant will send an email (to the email address you provide at the time of booking) with a link to the specific Zoom meeting room in which your online help session will take place. You will need a reliable internet connection. You will not need to download any software or plugins, however, and you should not log into your own ASU Zoom account.

Keep in mind that during your online appointment, the SAM Lab Consultant can answer general and more specific questions about statistics and research methods concepts, analyses, and SPSS. They can not provide direct answers to any class assignments, provide step-by-step instructions for answering each question on a class assignment, or review your completed assignments or homework responses.

Missed Appointment Policy

If you will be unable to attend a scheduled appointment, you may cancel or reschedule (using the links in your appointment confirmation email or through the SAM Lab booking page) up until 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. If you need to cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hrs' notice, please email the SAM Lab as soon as possible at samlabasu@gmail.com. We understand that extenuating circumstances can arise. Repeated (i.e., more than 3) missed appointments (or cancellations with less than 24 hrs’ notice) may result in a loss of SAM Lab use for the remainder of a semester or session.
